50 days
and thus starts the countdown... 50 days until i leave, 3 weeks until my last day at the House of Freedom. Im so excited! But still cant quite believe its real.
But what better time to leave the country than now... i mean it is quite possible the DOW could go negative... i mean how would that look if we were paying companies to hold stock in them! we would be the laughing stock, oh those dumb americans :P
anyways, still have things to do! Must get health insurance, mail in my certification card for SCUBA, get my TEFL certificate, and something else!
anywho, i promise this will get more exciting! :D

Adventures in adventure planning
So I joined couchsurfers, which is an awesome network of travelers. Its amazing how many people are traveling the world right now. People who are gone for 6 months, 7 months, 11 months. Heck even a year and a half!
The more I think about this, the more excited I get. And I think im actually doing it the right way, I have no dates no itinerary. The only thing for sure is I go to Roatan January 1st.

Adventures in financial meltdowns
Iceland is declaring bankruptcy... well they would be if Russia wasnt bailing them out
Score one Marxism
Best past is.... we finally came to realize that maybe our jobs actually werent safe... after all there wont be much call for democracy promotion when the whole world socializes the financial institutions
Hello communism!

Adventures in adventure
So this blog was meant to coincide with my next big adventure, and I have finally begun the planning phase. Plus I put in my two months notice at work #1, so I'm kinda forced to now actually realize my dreams.
Dream #1: To be a beach bum.
How I will accomplish that? By moving to Roatan, a small (and I mean small, its basically a dot on google maps) island off the coast of Honduras, where I will work for a dive shop and earn my divemaster certification. The island is 29 miles long by 2 miles wide, and apparently is a very popular expat destination. Oh and gorgeous!
Dream #2: To teach English in Thailand
How I will accomplish that? By finally mustering the courage to go... so after my 6 week stint on Roatan, and possibly some time wandering central america, im going to go to Thailand!!

Adventures on a Bus
I went to New York this weekend for a day trip to see a band playing in Times Square. Because I only wanted to go up for the band, I wanted to take a bus back that night. The China town express doesnt run from New York all night, so I was stuck with the Greyhound bus at 1:45 am. After the band played I went to go pick up my ticket and sleep on the way home.
Well I waited in line to pick up my ticket, along with others who were going to DC and Boston. Well the man working the counter left for like 8 minutes and so we were all there waiting in line for our bus tickets for buses that were leaving in 10 minutes. The man behind me missed his bus.
Ok, no problem finally get my ticket, and go to the gate number that im told, 71. Well the mean lady there said "you need to go wait in line at Gate 73." ok sure fine. I go wait in line and then the guy taking tickets just stops taking tickets. To go smoke. The bus is supposed to leave in 5 minutes. So me and three others are just waiting, waiting, waiting. And finally I go outside and just kinda stand there looking at the group of employees smoking. A guy comes back over and takes our tickets.
And so on the way to the bus I comment under my breath "so sorry to interrupt your cigarette break."
And for that comment, I was pulled off the bus and told I could take the 3:45 bus. Nobody would tell me why I was no longer allowed on the 1:45, except that the driver didnt want to drive me.
So I said fine, I've got two hours to waste now, I'll go find the nearest bar and then they will have reason to throw me off a bus. Made friends at the bar I went to, and wandered around Times Square with them until we crashed in their hotel room. Caught the 9 am bus and slept the whole way to DC. Finally got home around 1:30.
